FAQs ABOUT GARAGE DOORS & SECURITY GATES

  • What is the difference between residential and commercial garage doors?

The main difference between residential and commercial garage doors is their intended use. Commercial garage doors are intended to be used multiple times daily while residential ones are meant to be opened less frequently. Therefore, commercial garage doors are designed to withstand being used multiple times daily while residential and built to withstand being used only once or twice a day.

  • What is the R-Value of a door?

The R-value of a door is a measure of thermal efficiency. The higher the R-value, the better it is at reducing the transfer of heat. If you want a well-insulated door that helps reduce your energy bills, choose a door with a high R-value.

  • How often should I perform maintenance on my garage door?

Performing maintenance on your garage door is a necessary part of keeping your door functioning properly. You should have maintenance done to your garage door at least once a year.

  • Can I install a new garage door with my old garage door opener?

In most cases, you can install a new door and keep your existing garage door opener with no issues. However, we recommend that you check with your opener’s manufacturer to be sure that it is compatible with your new door and that it still meets government safety standards.

  • What caused a crack in my garage door?

A crack in your garage door may be caused by the improper installation of the door. It may also be caused by the incorrect positioning of the strut on the door, the incorrect slope of the opener, weaker springs than specified by the door’s requirements, and the down limit setting on the opener not being set properly.
